How Stream mode works
The overlay link carries the list and overlay settings in the URL hash. Browsers do not send that hash to the server. NamesWheel has no relay and stores no stream state on the server. Windows in the same browser stay in sync through BroadcastChannel. Anyone with the overlay link can see the list.
Set up in OBS or Streamlabs
- Add a Browser source.
- Paste the overlay link.
- Set the size to 700×700 (or match your source).
- Done — the background is transparent, so you usually do not need a chroma key.
- To spin: select the source → Interact → click the wheel or press Space (Ctrl+Enter also works)
After editing entries, copy the new link (or Refresh the source).
TikTok Live Studio and vMix work the same way: paste the overlay URL as a browser or web source.
The stream page is the control room. The wheel on this page and the overlay share one list through the link hash, so a scene in OBS can show the wheel without showing the entry box. Paste names here, copy the overlay link, and add that link as a browser source. When you spin, the same result appears in the overlay.
Nothing about the list is stored on the server. If you close the tab, open the overlay link again to restore the encoded list. Use a fresh list for each show when the previous names should not carry over. The overlay URL is the list, so share it only with the scenes that should see those names.
