Icebreaker name wheel
An icebreaker wheel is a short list of prompts, dares, or names you spin in front of the room. Open the decision wheel, the yes or no wheel, or a party template, then press Spin.

Why a party spin the wheel works
A quiet room gets quieter if you ask for volunteers. A wheel picks a prompt or a person so nobody has to go first on purpose.
Keep the stakes small. Truth or dare should have a Skip slice. Mystery questions should be ones you would ask a stranger at a table. The wheel is not a personality test. It is a visible coin flip for the next 30 seconds.
Use this at a meetup, a first class, a team offsite, or a party. Do not use it for anything someone cannot laugh off. If a prompt needs consent, ask before you spin. The tool only picks a label.
Load prompts, not a novel
Six to twelve slices are enough. Long questions wrap badly on a wheel. Put the real question in the list, then spin.
The mystery questions template hides labels until the result. The truth or dare template loads Truth, Dare, and Skip. Replace those words with your own prompts if you want a custom party wheel. The lunch picker is the same idea for a group that cannot pick a place.
Yes or no is right when the icebreaker is a single binary: stay or go, spicy or mild. The decision wheel is right when you have three or more named options. The homepage wheel is fine for a mixed list of names and prompts.
Play the room, then spin again
Read the result. Give the person a beat. Then spin again or pass the keyboard. Don’t repeat winners helps if every person or every prompt should go once.
If someone wants to skip, honor it. Edit the list in the open. A party wheel that traps people is a bad game. The skip slice exists so the group can see that passing is allowed.
Fullscreen helps on a TV. Sounds and confetti are optional. Reduced motion still shows a winner. Save a named wheel if this is a weekly meetup. It stays in this browser.
Which tool or template to open
Decision wheel for named options. Yes or no for a two-slice flip. Truth or dare and mystery questions templates for party prompts. Student picker if the icebreaker is “who talks next.”
Do not nest these jobs. Open one URL, load one list, spin. The templates gallery has the starting lists. This guide is the how. The tools stay above the story.
If the night turns into a raffle, switch to the raffle wheel and a clean entry list. If it turns into class, switch to the student picker. An icebreaker wheel should stay light. When the prompts get sharp, stop the wheel.
Still a fair pick
The winner is chosen before the wheel moves, same as every NamesWheel page. Party mode does not change the math.
If someone asks “did you rig the dare,” open the randomness page. You can run a 10,000-draw test. Then go back to the game. Do not argue about RNG in the middle of a laugh.
Lists stay on this device. There is no account. If you use a shared laptop, Reset when you leave so the next group does not inherit your dares.
Load a short list, spin where people can see, and keep a Skip if the game needs one. That is an icebreaker wheel. Open the decision wheel or a party template and try one spin. If the night turns into names only, the homepage wheel is enough. If it turns into class, switch to the student picker. Keep the prompts kind, then stop when the room is talking on its own.
Mistakes to avoid
- Loading prompts you would not say out loud to the whole room.
- Skipping the Skip slice, then trapping someone in a dare.
- Using a party wheel for a high-stakes choice that needs a real talk.
Common questions
What is an icebreaker wheel?
A short list of prompts, names, or dares you spin so the room sees a random next step. Load a template or paste your own.
How do I make a party spin the wheel?
Open the truth or dare or mystery questions template, replace the labels, and spin. Add Skip if people should be able to pass.
Should I use yes or no or the decision wheel?
Yes or no is two slices. The decision wheel is three or more named options. Use the one that matches the list.
Can I hide the prompts until they land?
Yes. The mystery questions template turns mystery labels on. Edit the real questions in the list.
How is the prompt chosen?
The same crypto random pick as every NamesWheel tool, before the animation. The randomness page has the method.
