Chores template

This chores template loads five household jobs on the homepage wheel. Turn on Don’t repeat winners so each task goes once before anyone gets a second job. It is a starting list for a house, not a roster.

What this template loads

  • Dishes
  • Trash
  • Vacuum
  • Laundry
  • Wipe counters

Dishes, trash, vacuum, laundry, wipe counters are starters. Add names if you are assigning people, or keep jobs if you are assigning tasks. Fair mode is on in the template so the first pass is even. Edit the list before you spin if one job is already done.

The decision wheel is next door if you would rather frame this as options than chores. Loading this template stays on the homepage tool and leaves classroom or raffle lists alone. Save a named wheel if this is the weekly house list. Turn Don’t repeat on before the first job. Edit the list before you spin if one job is already done.

Tips for running a chore rotation

List chores a person can finish in one sitting. A line that says “clean the house” will be argued; a line that says “wipe the counters” can be done before dinner. Include only chores that are due this week. A seasonal job such as washing windows can wait on its own spin later.

Match the number of chores to the number of people, or decide that some people will take two. Spin with don’t-repeat until every person has a job, and write the pairs on the fridge. If someone is away, remove both their name from the roster you keep beside the wheel and, if needed, put their chore back into a second short draw.

Swap by agreement after the draw, and note the swap, instead of spinning until the popular chores land on the same people. Next week, start from the same list unless a chore is done for the month. Delete that line so it cannot win again while the bucket is already empty.
