What this template loads

  • Ada
  • Grace
  • Linus
  • Margaret
  • Alan
  • Katherine

Ada through Katherine are placeholders. Paste the real roster before you split. The team picker is the classroom tool for groups, not for calling on one student. Use the student picker for cold call and the order generator for a speaking line. Pick the number of teams after the list loads.

The teachers hub links cold call, speaking order, and groups. Loading this template writes to the team picker only. A saved student roster on the same device stays put. Don’t mix a team draw and a cold call on one list. Paste the real names, pick a team count, then split. Show the groups on the projector so nobody has to ask who is where.

How teams stay balanced

Paste every person who is actually present. A name left over from yesterday becomes a ghost on a team. If you already know two people cannot be split, put them on one line and treat that line as a single seat so the draw does not separate them.

Choose the number of teams before the first assignment, and fill them in order: team one, team two, then back to team one. Don’t-repeat stops the same person landing twice. If the group is not divisible by the team count, say in advance which teams will have one extra person. The wheel will not hide that math.

Captains, if you need them, can be the first name drawn onto each team. After that, draw the rest. Do not redraw a whole team because the skill mix looks uneven unless the room agreed to a redraw rule before any name appeared. Write the teams down. Closing the tab is how a fair draw gets lost.
