Google spinner vs NamesWheel
When we checked in October 2026, searching “spinner” or “fidget spinner” on Google showed an interactive spinner in the results. This page compares that spinner with NamesWheel using only what we could see then. NamesWheel isn't affiliated with Google. We do not describe how Google draws a number, what it stores, or where the spinner is offered.
The Google spinner, on that check, had two modes. One is a fidget spinner. The other is a number spinner. The number spinner can be set from 2 to 20 numbers. It shows numbers only. You cannot type names, options, or custom labels. Those four observations are the whole Google column in the table below. Every other row is a dash, because we are not filling gaps with a guess.
Use that number spinner when you need a quick integer from 2 to 20 and you are already in the search results. A board game that wants a digit, a short countdown, or a fidget while you think does not need a name list. If 20 is enough and the slices must be numbers, you can stay there. You do not need an account on NamesWheel for that job either, but you also do not need to open another site.
Open NamesWheel when the slices are names or sentences. Paste one entry per line. A class roster, a prize list, or three dinner options do not fit a spinner that only shows numbers. The homepage wheel takes any labels you type. The number wheel is the separate tool when you do want numbers, including ranges that are not capped at 20. This comparison is about that split: numbers in a small band, or text you supply.
Lists longer than 20 are a NamesWheel job. A wheel here can hold up to 2,000 lines. At 80 or more, the drawing switches to a compact layout so the labels do not collide, and the winner is shown as text. A 1–100 draw has its own template with remove-after-win already on. The any-range number wheel is still the page to change the minimum and maximum. None of that range editing is something we are claiming the Google number spinner does.
No repeats is a switch you can see. Remove-after-win drops the line that just won so the next spin cannot pick it. Customize, then Modes, then No repeats is the classroom round: each person once, and a new round restores the roster without deleting the saved names. Use it when the same student should not be called twice. The table leaves Google’s cell blank on this row. We did not check a remove-winner control, so we do not say it has one or that it lacks one beyond the facts above.
Weights are for a line that should come up more often than the others. On the weighted wheel, or in a list written as Name | 3, the number is the weight and it stays visible. That is a NamesWheel control. The Google column is a dash. Saving a wheel is also local: Wheels keeps named lists in this browser, and the current list autosaves. There is no sign in. We are not describing Google’s data handling, so the save row does not guess about an account.
A share link on NamesWheel is an unlisted /w/ address for the list you send. It is not indexed. Send it only to someone who should see the names. Fullscreen is Present: Space or Enter spins, R removes, K keeps, Esc closes. The stream page can hand an overlay link to OBS as a browser source, and that URL is the list. Nothing about the list is stored on the server. Those are NamesWheel features. They are not claims about the spinner in search results.
Languages on this site are English, Thai, Indonesian, and Brazilian Portuguese. The switcher follows pages that have a translation. A page without one stays in English. We are not stating which countries see Google’s spinner. If you searched and did not see it, this page cannot tell you why. The October 2026 check is a description of the widget we found, not a map of availability.
Read the table as a worksheet. Entries, maximum, and custom text are filled on the Google side from the four facts. Remove winner, weights, save, share link, fullscreen, and languages are dashes there. The NamesWheel side is what this site actually does, and you can open the wheel and try the row you care about. If a later visit to Google shows a different spinner, the date on this page is the limit of the claim.
A fidget spinner in the results is a toy on the page. It is not a list manager, and this write-up does not treat it as one. If you only wanted something to flick while a meeting starts, that mode is the one that matched our October 2026 check. NamesWheel does not try to imitate that fidget. It picks an entry from a list you can edit, save, and show.
Try the homepage when you have names. Try the number wheel when you have a range, including a range past 20, or the 1–100 template when that is the whole job. If a number from 2 to 20 is really all you need, the spinner in search may be enough and you can stop there. NamesWheel isn't affiliated with Google, and this page is not a ranking. It is a way to pick the tool that matches the list in front of you.

Questions
What did NamesWheel check in October 2026?
Searching “spinner” or “fidget spinner” showed an interactive spinner. It had a fidget mode and a number mode. The number spinner ran from 2 to 20 and showed numbers only, with no names or custom labels. That is the whole list.
When is the Google number spinner enough?
When you want a quick number from 2 to 20 and you do not need names. A short digit for a game can stay in the search results. NamesWheel isn't affiliated with Google.
When should I use NamesWheel instead?
When the entries are names or other words, when the list is longer than 20, or when you need no repeats, weights, a save in this browser, Present mode, or a stream overlay.
Does this page describe how Google picks a number?
No. We do not state anything about randomness, data handling, or country availability. Empty cells in the table are dashes on purpose.
Is NamesWheel affiliated with Google?
No. NamesWheel isn't affiliated with Google. The name is here because people compare the two when they search for a spinner.
